Henry Large is an advisor with Pan-American Strategic Advisors, a doctoral candidate in Latin American Studies and Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, and a Rising Expert on Washington, Beijing, and the World with the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.
Henry's research focuses on great-power competition in the Western Hemisphere, and the region's relationships with Beijing, Taipei, and Washington. His research includes 9 months spent visiting archives and interviewing policymakers in Panama, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Taiwan. His analysis has been published by peer-reviewed journals and foreign affairs venues, including the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the Global Taiwan Institute, Geopolitical Monitor, Latin American Reports, the Center for International and Strategic Studies (CSIS), The Diplomat, and the SAIS Review of International Affairs. He has been interviewed by several outlets, including CSIS's podcast on the Americas, a Dominican think tank, and Taiwanese television. He has previous work experience with the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies and a USAID-funded NGO in Guatemala.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and History from Yale University, where he graduated with distinction in both majors, and a Master of Philosophy in Latin American Studies from Oxford. He is fluent in Spanish, proficient in Portuguese, and conversational in Mandarin.
