The Future of Inter-American Governance
The Americas are home to the oldest regional organization and have a long and complicated history of developing mechanism to promote regional cooperation. Dating back to Simón Bolívar’s efforts with the Congress of Panama (1826), leaders from across the Americas have dreamed of Inter-American cooperation. However, despite the creation of over 40 regional organizations, trade blocks, and other forums, cooperation remains elusive.
Pan-American Strategic Advisors is conducting research and providing recommendations on how to strengthen cooperation and navigate the complex web of regional bodies. In addition to focusing on strengthening collective governance, we are particularly focused on examining questions of trade, democracy promotion, development, and immigration in the Americas.
